Never buy wine with a screw on cap that has no protective seal. If it isn’t sealed with that little strip of metal or plastic that tells you the wine has not been tampered with since it left the bottler then you could be imbibing just about anything. Alcoholic drinks can be made in a variety of ways in cheap home stills quite easily but strict standards of hygiene and ingredients are lacking and in combination with that poor or even non-existent quality control at an unregulated still can cause serious health problems and even deaths. No one in their right minds drinks moonshine these days. That is what it is called, moonshine. The word was first used to describe the liquor that was illegally brewed during the prohibition years in American history. There is such a thing as delicious wine made at home but buying the stuff from a suspect source in an improperly sealed bottle is asking for trouble.
